Indian Head Massage is an ancient Ayurvedic healing system. It is a simple, safe and highly
beneficial therapy, which has been practised all over India for over a thousand years. The Hindu word for head massage is ‘Champi’ and aspects of the treatment have a long tradition in Indian families, with techniques being passed from mother to daughter and many fathers using the same techniques in their barber’s shops passing them on to their sons.
It helps to stimulate the circulation of the head, neck and shoulders areas. These areas are prone to tension and stress related illnesses. By having regular Indian Head Massage a sense of well-being is achieved. The body is able to relax, tension is released and any aches and pains accumulated by stress are melted away. The body starts to heal itself!
The client should feel re-energised and at peace with the world following a treatment. Regular Head Massage also stimulates the circulation to the hair follicles, which can help to maintain a healthy head of hair.
It is truly a relaxing experience!
Men and women alike can benefit from this therapy. Office workers, stuck at a desk or computer for long periods at a time or long distant drivers, cashiers, packers or anyone doing repetitive movements involving upper arms and shoulders.
As with any form of treatment, complementary or otherwise, the results will vary from person to person. We are all individuals and may find a particular therapy works well for us.
Indian Head Massage can be helpful in treating a wide range of conditions including: -
And many more!
On your first visit, a personal/medical history will be taken before commencing a treatment. This will be totally confidential and professional and will enable me to tailor my treatment techniques to you. Your first visit is likely to last just over an hour and subsequent treatments about 45 minutes. Treatments are performed seated upright on a chair and can be performed ‘dry’ whilst fully clothed. Alternatively oils may be used on the back, shoulders and upper arms (as well as the head and scalp) requiring the removal of just the top half of clothing and the wearing of a body towel, whichever is the most comfortable for you. As this massage can be performed fully clothed it makes it a truly non-invasive treatment.
Indian Head Massage can induce deep relaxation and reduce stress levels
Stress unfortunately is now an everyday part of modern life. Too much stress can actually be harmful to our bodies. We must all take time out to relax and give our bodies time to recover and repair itself.
Indian Head Massage improves circulation to head, neck and shoulders
Tension causes our blood vessels to tighten and to restrict blood flow. The skull is covered with a thin layer of muscle, which tightens when we’re tense, resulting in headaches and feelings of anxiety. Toxins build up and the oxygen supply to vital organs becomes reduced. By relaxing the body through massage, stress levels reduce, allowing the blood to flow naturally and easily.
Indian Head Massage cleanses the body of toxins and impurities
Toxins can accumulate in tense, knotted muscles and by gently releasing these so allow for the dispersal of the toxins back into the lymphatic system for eventual elimination from the body. By reducing stress, Indian Head Massage allows these systems to function more effectively.
Indian Head massage can balance the body’s whole system
For the body to be truly healthy, everything must work together as part of a ‘whole’. Weakness or damage in one area will soon cause other parts to suffer. Indian Head massage helps to balance the body’s chakras (the body’s energy centres) so that all the energy pathways are clear and function as they should.
Indian Head Massage revitalises the body
We all know when our energy levels are not what they should be. By relaxing and opening up energy pathways, Indian Head Massage regenerates and re-invigorates the mind and restores natural equilibrium. Mental alertness, concentration and creativity can be improved.
Indian Head Massage can also act as preventative health care
Our general health, including the effectiveness of our immune system, depends on our ability to successfully manage stress. Indian Head Massage helps the immune system to cope. Only when the body is well balanced and the harmful effects of stress are countered through relaxation, is a person in the best condition to ward off illness.
